2026 U.S. Flag Stamp: Design, Dates, and Formats
The 2026 U.S. Flag stamp has a feature that stands out even in a small product image: the flag looks knitted. The red dates below it also make this design different from earlier U.S. Flag issues.
The story behind the knitted flag
The image comes from a Polo Ralph Lauren sweater introduced in 1989. USPS art director Greg Breeding designed the stamp using a Ralph Lauren Corporation photograph. The knit flag also appears in the 2026 American Icons pane. The official USPS 2026 stamp announcement describes the connection.
Look at the stamp design itself when comparing listings. A product photo may show several stamps curled into a roll, while another shows a single stamp or a complete pane. Those different presentations can depict related artwork without representing the same retail package.
What do 1776 and 2026 mean?
The anniversary dates are separated by a gold star beneath the flag. The design marks 250 years since 1776. It is the 2026 issue’s commemorative setting, not a date range during which the stamp must be used.
If you save a screenshot for a purchasing colleague, include the design and the complete product name. Searching only for “anniversary stamps” can lead to other releases with different images and packaging.

The USPS announcement lists panes and booklets of 20, plus coils of 100, 3,000, and 10,000. That describes the official issue range. It does not mean every seller stocks every format.

The last row is especially important: 100 coils of 100 is not one continuous coil of 10,000. If a particular roll size matters for your equipment, confirm its physical specifications separately.
